In 1993 – ATF agents raid the compound of the Branch Davidian church northeast of Waco, Texas, attemtpint to execute various search warrants. Four agents and five sect members were killed in the initial raid, which began a 51-day standoff. The siege ended on April 19 with the death of 76 more sect members, who were suspected of sexual abuse and storing illegal weapons at the compound.  

In 1906- The Ottawa Silver Sevens of the Eastern Canada Amateur Hockey Association retain the Stanley Cup with a 12-7 victory in Game 2 over Queen’s University of the Ontario Hockey Association in Ottawa in a best-of-three challenge series. It was the eighth of nine successful defenses for Ottawa, who first won the Cup in 1903. It was the third and final time Queen’s University played for the Cup, and they remain the only college to do so. 

In 1976 – Rhythm Heritage is at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the only week with Theme From S.W.A.T. It was the first of three chart singles for the group, their first of two Top 40 Hits and remains their only #1. The song also went to #1 in Canada, peaked at #11 on Billboard’s soul chart, and was Billboard’s 29th-biggest song of the year.
