The Sunday Bottom 5
A ranking of the week’s nonsense
1. War With Iran – America nothing more than a rogue state now, what with the kidnapping of Venezuela’s president and the murder of Iran’s leader…And both done in illegal wars… The Constitution is very clear on the matter: Congress declares war, but Congress hasn’t done that since 1942, meaning every war the US has fought since then has been illegal.
2. Epstein Files – Hillary Clinton brought up a good point while testifying this week: if the Republican-dominated committee is so hell-bent on getting to the bottom of this, why don’t they subpoena President Trump and make him testify under oath?
3. USA! USA! – The 3-hole staple…A hundred years from now all new people will wonder why America tolerated an ignorant liar like Donald Trump…Sunday Bottom 5 pollsters “pretty sure” that any other person would’ve been forced from public life because of the meme portraying the Obamas as primates.
4. Winter Olympics – Forty-six years after fake snow was first used at the Winter Games, the planet is so warm now that over 80% of snow used at Milan Cortina was man-made, which takes enormous amounts of water and energy to make, which bring up sustainability issues for future Games.

Extra, extra, read all about it.
In 1966 – The Soviet Union becomes the first nation to put a man-made object on another planet when Venera 3 crashes onto Venus. The mission had launched on November 16 and required a major course correction in December. Typical of the good/bad history of the Soviet space program, the milestone was tainted by the fact the probe was supposed to parachute to the Venusian surface.
1848 – Chandler, ridden by Lt. Josey Little, who also owned the horse, wins the Grand National Steeplechase by a half length over The Curate at Aintree Racecourse near Liverpool. The race saw three horses fall and die, a record that was equaled the following year and in 1998, and still stands. Little used his proceeds from the race to purchase his captaincy in the British Army.
In 2003 – Jennifer Lopez featuring LL Cool J is at #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 for the fourth and final consecutive week with All I Have. The song also reached #1 in Panama, New Zealand, and Croatia, peaked at #2 in Great Britain, at #4 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip Hop chart, and was their 15th-biggest song of the year. It was the fourth and most recent #1 for Lopez, and remains the only #1 pop song for LL Cool J.
Some Philosophy Crap
The wisdom of the ages. Whatever.
And yet I knew that what I saw wasn’t as simple and good as it appeared. There was a price to be paid for it all, a general falsity, that could easily be believed, and could be the first step down a dead-end street.
