GAYLON FOR CONGRESS…VOTE EARLY, VOTE OFTEN: In case you missed it on the news, yours truly earned the Colorado Libertarian Party’s nomination for Congress from the 2nd Congressional District (CD2) this past weekend at their annual convention. We had planned to run for their US Senate nomination, but there was already a candidate, and we wanted to avoid a primary, which is mandated here anytime multiple candidates get least 30% of the vote at a convention.

FunFact: We wanted to avoid a primary because we tend to lose them. We are 0-for-2 in them, making us one of the few Libertarians who have taken part in two primaries, much less lost them both.

Gavel-To-Gavel Coverage…Sort Of: Not that the CD2 nomination was guaranteed, either, even though we were the only announced candidate, because Libertarian Party policy states that None of the Above (NOTA) is on every Libertarian ballot. Fortunately, we shut NOTA out, though in a couple of other races, NOTA received around two dozen votes, and it’s even received a vote or two against me over the years.

Dry, Technical Matter: Really, there is only one issue in this campaign:

Are we going to accept the ignorance and appeasement the status quo is offering, or are we going to take command and demand better?

The Bottom Line: Neither the Republicans nor the Democrats have shown they deserve your vote; the Republicans are mired under the weight of Donald Trump’s ignorance, while in 2024 the Democrats were unable to muster a candidate who could beat a lying, ignorant, convicted felon. As usual, you and me – we the people – will be the only change on this ballot.

Extra, extra, read all about it.

In 1789 – John Adams is inaugurated the first vice president of the United States, at Federal Hall in New York City. Adams would serve two terms as vice president, a position that – Adams being Adams – he was never entirely pleased with. Though Adams took office nine days before George Washington assumed the presidency, History did not record any executive actions taken by him.

In 2012 – Philip Humber of the Chicago White Sox pitches the 21st perfect game in major league history in a 4-0 win over the Seattle Mariners. It was the third perfect game by a White Sox pitcher – tying the mark held with the New York Yankees – and was the first of three perfect games in 2012, a record. Humber retired the following season with a 16-23 career record – the fewest wins of a perfect game pitcher – and this was his only major league complete game.

In 2001 – Jessica Andrews is at #1 on Billboard’s country chart – then known as the Hot Country Singles chart – for the third and final consecutive week with Who I Am. It was the fifth of eleven country hits for Andrews, her fourth of six Top 40 hits, and remains her only Top 10 appearance. The song also peaked at #28 on the Hot 100 and was Billboard’s 8th-biggest country song of the year. Andrews, now 42, last charted in 2008.
