Extra, extra, read all about it.

In 1974 – President Richard Nixon announces his resignation in a nationally televised address from the Oval Office. Nixon’s resignation was the culmination of the two-year-long Watergate scandal, and was effective at noon the following day, when Vice President Gerald Ford became president. Ford would pardon Nixon a month later, and Nixon remains the only US president to resign. Nixon’s resignation letter was addressed to Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.

In 1992 – The United States wins the men’s basketball gold medal at the Barcelona Summer Olympics with a 117-85 win over Croatia. It was the tenth of 17 gold medals for the US, and it remains Croatia’s highest Olympic finish. It was the first Olympics featuring NBA players, with the US team nicknamed The Dream Team, and they won their games by an average of 44 points. Lithuania defeated the Commonwealth of Independent States for the bronze medal.

Today – Ella Langley is at #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 for the 16th consecutive week with Choosin’ Texas. Four other country songs are also in the Top 5, marking the first time in Hot 100 history five songs also on the country chart are in the Hot 100 Top 5 simultaneously. The other songs are: Been by Now, Morgan Wallen; I Knew It, I Knew You, Taylor Swift; I Can’t Love You Anymore, Langley and Wallen; and Boston, Stella Lefty. Choosin’ Texas is also in its 34th non-consecutive week at #1 on Billboard’s country chart. Research into the previous high for most country songs in the Hot 100 Top 5 was inconclusive.

Some Philosophy Crap
The wisdom of the ages. Whatever.

It is more important to know where you are going than to get there quickly. Do not mistake activity for achievement.
