Q: Is it Read Free Fortnight at The Diary of a Nobody?
A: Of course it is. Enjoy.
The Diary of a Nobody – Sparrow and Silas give each other crap before the post’s Memorial Day ceremony. Today’s Diary.
…he noted that while I was wearing the enlisted submarine insignia (known as dolphins), ol’ Sparrow otherwise was not displaying wearing any medals or ribbons because outside of a unit commendation, ol’ Sparrow is not authorized any ribbons or medals.
– No, Skimmer Puke, they didn’t pass them out with the rations when I was in.
– They had medals in the Civil War, didn’t they???

The Diary of a Nobody – In the Upset of the Ages, the Sunday Yapper is not yapping today. Today’s Diary.
…he said his tumors are getting smaller and he’s losing weight which is a crock because the Sunday Yapper is only losing weight if the scale is located in zero gravity…That was about it, tho…There was no small talk, no mindless blather, no chemo updates.

Sunday, May 30
Boy, the race for May reward club sign-up champion between Amy and Assistant Front Desk Manager Q is neck and neck and almost has a baseball pennant race feel to it heading the final, holiday, weekend…Amy updated the leaderboard tonight before she left and the race is still a dead heat: 55-55 after being 46-46 last night, meaning both raked in the sign-ups tonight.

The Sunday Bottom 5
A ranking of some things.
1. Will Craig: –Wizard Pittsburgh Pirate first baseman runs batter-runner back to home plate instead of touching first base ultimately resulting in two (2) runs scoring instead of the inning ending in a game lost by two (2) runs…Sunday Bottom 5 pollsters “pretty sure” they’ll be able to waive usual 5-year waiting period and get Craig immediate induction into Sunday Bottom 5 Hall of Fame.
2. January 6 Commission Vote –Senate fails to pass measure that would have set stage for non-partisan commission to investigate attempted insurrection…While great fun to blame GOP for this, Sunday Bottom 5 pollsters “pretty sure” had nine (9) absent Democrats bothered to show up vote would have gone differently.
3. Lauren Daigle – Single You Say drops out of top spot on Billboard’s Hot Christian Singles chart for sixth time, after four consecutive weeks and Billboard all-chart record 129 non-consecutive weeks at #1…Top spot now filled by Crowder – who looks like he’s auditioning for a role with ZZ Top – with his first #1 song called Good God Almighty.
4. Donald Trump Supporters – Hey guys, Trump remains a lying sexual predator who believes 1) that the Revolution was won by securing British airports and 2) that the moon is part of Mars…Out of idle curiosity, which one of these elements continues to cement your support?
5. This Really Happened…Well, No It Didn’t – Click here for a review of lies that some who live among us actually believed happened…Courtesy of the AP.

Cheapskates rejoice. You made it to Read Free Sunday at The Diary.
The Diary of a Nobody – Amy and Q are neck and neck for the most reward club signups this month.
Amy even accused Q of taking the new guy’s signups under the guise of training, something Q didn’t really bother to deny and he had such a focused look in his eye ol’ Sparrow even declared – so as not to incur anyone’s wrath – that he wasn’t going sign anyone up for the rewards club ever again…This will be easy enuff to accomplish seeing as I haven’t signed anyone up in over two years here anyway.
Some Philosophy Crap

Men are a thousand times more intent on becoming rich than on acquiring culture, though it is quite certain that what a man is contributes more to his happiness than what he has.

Oh, baby, sold out and busy all night, a dead sprint from clock in to clock out…As it should be, too, for the first real holiday weekend in over a year.

The Diary of a Nobody – Sparrow is not as busy as planned at the VSO. Today’s Diary.
Ms P, recall, is the widow whose late husband was denied a claim ages ago that the VA is now routinely approving…The letter also said they are looking into it, compelled to by a court order, the result of some class-action suit filed years ago…She did not answer her phone all day and, of all things, she does not have an answering machine…Or if she does it’s one that doesn’t pick up until an hour of ringing has passed.
Some Philosophy Crap
The wisdom of the ages. Whatever.
In our desire to have government become our benefactor and sustainer, we have allowed it to become our taskmaster and overlord. As a result, we have become little more than well-fed, well-entertained slaves to the state. Freedom, as envisioned by our forefathers, is gone.

The Diary of a Nobody – Sparrow’s long day off includes rehearsal for the Legion post’s Memorial Day ceremonry.
Rick had a funny line…We were in formation and the subject was someone who wasn’t at rehearsal who should’ve been and Rick said well, he’d heard him blabbing on that swap shop radio show that airs on a local station so he’s in town and that “he used his real name, too, so he’s not wanted”, tho I don’t know the guy referenced well enuff to know if the line has merit or is merely funny.

Why has government been instituted at all? Because the passions of man will not conform to the dictates of reason and justice without constraint.
