Editor’s Note: Gaylon is working on a project and most elements of The Daily Dose – Leading Off, The Sunday Bottom 5, On This Date, Some Philosophy Crap, Trivia – are either on hiatus or running intermittently. Your full-service Daily Dose will return, probably later this spring, though perhaps in the summer.

The Sunday Bottom 5
A ranking of some things.

1. Major League Baseball Good gravy people, your game – our game – is dying, with batters now swinging and missing so much the old Mendoza Line is actually a pretty good average now…Also, Sunday Bottom 5 pollsters “pretty sure” Madison Baumgartner should be credited with a no-hitter because that’s how long the goddamned game was scheduled for.

2. US Labor Market Help wanted signs out everywhere as some employers actually obliged to raise wages and provide benefits to attract workers nowadays…Sunday Bottom 5 pollsters “pretty sure” this is a good time to hold out for a couple of bucks more an hour and are even thinking of striking for higher bar tabs.

3. Lauren Daigle After relegation to runner-up spot last week, hit song You Say shows staying power of fruit fly, back at #1 on Billboard’s Hot Christian Singles chart for 126th non-consecutive week, a Billboard all-chart record…Envious Morman Tabernacle Choir, still seeking similar success, reportedly finishing up hip-hop version of God Bless the USA  for 4th of July album release.

4. Senator Mitt RomneyFormer GOP presidential nominee booed at Utah GOP convention for having nerve to vote twice for Trump impeachment and even came within a few votes of being censured for it…Bully for him…Donald Trump remains a lying sexual predator who believes the moon is part of Mars.

5. President Biden Fact Check Though fact-checking community still pining for halcyon days of Trump Administration, they were kept moderately busy during Biden’s speech to Congress…Click here for details…Provided by the AP.

The Diary of a Nobody – Sparrow’s back to reporting the gas mileage figures for the new ride. Today’s Diary.

I’ve been negligent in reporting the new ride’s MPG figures lately, getting pouty after they fell below 33 MPG for a while, but that gas treatment I’ve been putting in has done its work well and it’s been creeping up for a while now except, of course, when we were allowed to floor it on the road trip…I knew it was going to be good, too…The odometer read well over 400 miles since the last fill-up, where it was reading 360 miles in the 32 MPG days…This is good because gas is $3.50/gallon up here and the Sparrow General Fund appreciates the increased gas mileage.
