Writing worth reading. Usually.

The Diary of a Nobody – Sparrow does some whining. Today’s Diary.

Proof that yours truly will whine about absolutely anything can be found in the fact that I whined about 2030 being too late to get a proper morning routine in…

The Bottom Ten/NFL Week 8 – Hardly for the first time, the road to The Dan Henning Trophy – symbolic of NFL Bottom Ten excellence – goes through Detroit.

Queen Elizabeth threatening to revoke Treaty of Paris that ended Revolution unless colonies agree to stop sending lousy teams across pond as four (4) teams that have played in England this year currently have combined 5-17 record.

With NY Jets enjoying week off, Giants able to strut B-10 stuff on own and not part of hilarious Gotham City joint entry …

Jaguar’s owner Genghis Khan again threatening beheadings as defending B-10 champions now just another one (1)-win team that can’t convert on 3rd-down…

The long march to today.

In 1803 – The United States Senate ratifies the treaty that authorized the Louisiana Purchase by a 20-7 vote. The purchase acquired territory from New Orleans extending northwest that encompassed all or part of what are now 15 states and two Canadian provinces. The territory cost $11.25 million, plus the forgiving of $3.75 million of French debt, about $364 million in today’s money. Even at less than three cents an acre, the US was obliged to borrow the money from Great Britain at 6% interest, a loan that was paid off in 1823 at a total cost of $23 million,

In 2004 – The Boston Red Sox become the first major league baseball team to erase a three games to none deficit, defeating the New York Yankees 10-3 in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series in New York. The Red Sox matched the feat of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1942 Stanley Cup Finals and the New York Islanders in the 1975 NHL quarterfinals and the feat has been accomplished twice since in the NHL. The Red Sox would later defeat the St Louis Cardinals in the World Series in four games.

In 1984 – Stevie Wonder is at #1 for the second of three consecutive weeks on Billboard’s Hot 100 and its soul chart – then known as the Hot Black Singles chart – with I Just Called to Say I Love You. The song also went to #1 in 18 other countries, including Zimbabwe, Norway and Great Britain and was Billboard’s 25th-biggest song of the year. It was the eighth of ten #1 pop hits for Wonder and his eleventh of a then-record 20 #1 soul hits.

Some Philosophy Crap
The wisdom of the ages. Whatever.

…if you are not surpassing everything you thought you could be…you are constructing that it is OK to show up every day and not get your desired result.
