The Diary of a Nobody – Sparrow violates established state law vis-a-vis the speed limit.

We usually don’t drive that fast but when you can slot in behind someone it’s good for morale on the theory they’re the ones that will hit the deer, tho that theory is not backed by actual proof.

History’s long march.

In 1953 – Queen Elizabeth II is crowned queen of the United Kingdom and other places at Westminster Abbey in London. Elizabeth had ascended the throne in February 1952 upon the death of her father, King George VI, and, now 96, still reigns, the oldest and longest-serving British monarch ever. The US was represented at the coronation by George C Marshall, Omar Bradley, Earl Warren, and Fleur F Cowles, all of whom were designated Special Ambassadors for the occasion.

In 1891 – Charley “Old Hoss” Radburn becomes the fourth major league pitcher to win 300 games in a 10-8 win over the Boston Beaneaters. Radburn joined Pud Galvin, Mickey Welch, and Tim Keefe as 300-game winners and would retire at the end of the season with a career record of 310-194 and an ERA of 2.68. Radburn’s first win had come on May 5, 1881, for the Providence Grays, and of his 527 games pitched, he started 502 of them and completed 488. Radburn also appeared in 119 games as an outfielder and 32 games as an infielder.

In 1979 – Donna Summer is at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the first of three non-consecutive weeks with Hot Stuff.  It was the seventh of 20 Top 40 hits for Summer, her 6th of 14 Top 10 hits, and her second of four #1 songs. The song went to #1 in four other countries, including Japan and Australia, peaked at #11 in Great Britain, at #3 on Billboard’s soul chart, and was their seventh-biggest song of the year. Summer also won the Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance.
