The Diary of a Nobody – Sparrow has some creamer news. Today’s Diary.

The big news is we’ve been out of hazelnut creamer all week, so it’s been French vanilla and half & half going at it mano a mano at Morning Coffee Service (MCS) and while this is not an official Creamer Challenge, yours truly noted this week that French vanilla was really wiping the floor with half & half.

History’s long march.

In 1805 – The Kingdom of Italy is formed, replacing the Republic of Italy, with French Emperor Napoleon – who had been president of the Italian republic – proclaimed Napoleon I. At the time, the Kingdom of Italy consisted of what is today northern Italy, and Napoleon would be crowned in April at his capital at Milan. Napoleon abdicated both thrones in 1814 and the Kingdom of Italy split into two kingdoms, a duchy, and the Papal States.

In 1893 – The Montreal Hockey Club (MHC) wins the first Stanley Cup, defeating the Montreal Crystals 2-1 to finish in first place in the Amateur Hockey Association of Canada with a 7-1 record. It was the first of three Stanley Cups for the MHC, all consecutive, though the Stanley Cup trophy would later be awarded to the Montreal Athletic Association, the organization the MHC was affiliated with.  The Stanley Cup came into the permanent possession of the NHL before the 1926-27 NHL season.

In 1951 – Perry Como is at #1 on Billboard’s Best Sellers in Stores chart – a predecessor to the Hot 100 – for the second of six non-consecutive weeks with If (They Made Me a King). As was common for the era, the song was a hit for a variety of other artists, including Jo Stafford (#8), Dean Martin (#14), and the Ink Spots (#23), and was the ninth of 13 #1 songs on an American pop chart for Como. Como’s last appearance on a Billboard chart came this past January when There’ No Place Like Home (For the Holidays) peaked at #29 on the Hot 100.

Answer To The Last Trivia Question
Knowledge is power.

The previous record for the longest climb to #1 is held by All I Want For Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey, which took 35 weeks to reach #1 in several chart runs between 2000-19.
