Extra, extra, read all about it.

In 1789 – John Adams is sworn in as the first vice president of the United States at Federal Hall in New York City, then the capital of the United States. The United States Constitution had taken effect on March 4 but neither Adams or president-elect George Washington were in the capital to take their oaths of office. Washington, in fact, was in Trenton, New Jersey on this date and would be inaugurated on April 30. Adams would serve two terms as vice president and would be elected president in 1796, serving one term.

In 1934 – Moe Berg of the Washington Senators establishes a new American League record for most consecutive errorless games by a catcher in a 7-2 loss to the Philadelphia Athletics. It was the 117th consecutive errorless game for Berg, and research into whose record he broke, and who held the National League record, was inconclusive. Berg’s major league career had started as a shortstop and in World War II he was a spy for the Office of Strategic services. The big league record for most consecutive errorless games by a catcher is now 253 by Mike Redomond, from 2004-10.

1979 – Amii Stewart is at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the only week with Knock on Wood. It was the first of three chart singles for Stewart and remains her only Top 40, Top 10, and #1 song. The song also went to #1 in Canada and peaked at #6 in both Great Britain and on Billboard’s soul chart. Versions by Eddie Floyd (#28, 1966) and Otis Redding (#30, 1967) have also hit the Hot 100.

Some Philosophy Crap
The wisdom of the ages. Whatever.

…never think that you are not good enough yourself…My belief is that in life people will take you very much at your own reckoning.
