The Diary of a Nobody – Sparrow and Mark discuss human trafficking. Today’s Diary.

…we went out and told Mark, very seriously, that as part of this turnover from here on out we wanted the latest on the human trafficking front here at the hotel: has there been any, what precautions are we taking, and whatnot…For his part, Mark said – as we stood by, nodding solemnly – that he had observed no human trafficking tonite, just our usual motley retinue of guests, and that all standard precautions were observed.

In 2009 – Two American TV reporters are convicted of illegally entering North Korea, three months after having been arrested near the border with China. Euna Lee and Laura Ling were sentenced to 12 years of hard labor, though they were pardoned in August, after an unannounced visit by former President Bill Clinton, who met with Korean dictator Kim Jung Il. In 1966 – The NFL and the AFL announce plans to merge their two leagues in time for the 1970 season. The agreement called for all existing franchises to remain in the current city and the league to expand by four teams by 1970. The agreement also called for the two leagues to play what would become the Super Bowl. The agreement also stipulated that all NFL stadiums must hold at least 50,000 people

In 1974 – Paul McCartney and Wings is at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the only week with Band on the Run. It was the second of six #1 songs for the group and was their sixth of 15 Top 10 hits. The song also went to #1 in New Zealand and Canada, peaked at #3 in Great Britain, and was Billboard’s 22nd-biggest song of the year. The song won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Duo, Group, or Chorus.
