The Diary of a Nobody – Sparrow deals with some car club members. Today’s Diary.

A bit later, two guys working on the car entered the lobby, with one noting gleefully it was now “…side-of-the-road repairable,” which made us laugh for some reason…

Extra, extra, read all about it.

In 973 – The first coronation ceremony for English monarchs is held at Bath Abbey in Bath, Somerset. King Edgar the Peaceful and his wife Aelfthryth were crowned king and queen, and both reigned until Edgar’s death two years later. Edgar had ascended the throne in October 959 following the death of his brother Eadwig, and it remains the only confirmed coronation at Bath Abbey.

In 1998 – Kerry Wood of the Chicago Cubs establishes a new major league record for the most strikeouts in consecutive games in a 4-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. Wood struck out 13 batters, giving him 33 in his last two games, breaking the record of 32 that had been done four times previously, and the record still stands. Woods had struck out 20 Houston Astros, tying the major league single-game record, on May 5.

In 2002- Ashanti is at #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 for the fourth of ten consecutive weeks with Foolish. The song also peaked at #4 in Great Britain, was in its sixth of ten consecutive weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart, and was their 2nd-biggest song of the year. It was the second of ten Top 10 hits for Ashanti, and her second and most recent #1 song. It was the second song to spend at least ten weeks at #1 on both the pop and R&B charts, an accomplishment that no longer has any statistical significance.
