The Sunday Bottom 5
A ranking of some things.

1. World Cup With exciting discovery that FIFA rules can be overturned at the whim of blatherskite world leaders, their World Cup tournment now nothing more than an assortment of exhibition games…Rumors that winner of final game to advance to special title game vs. the US still to be confirmed.

2. IOC  – Russia reinstated to Olympic family, with Sunday Bottom 5 pollsters “pretty sure” it was only so IOC can avoid possible messy questions about why Russia would’ve been barred for Ukraine invasion but US – probably still butting in somewhere on this planet – could host 2028 Summer Games

3. Gaylon For Congress…Vote Early, Vote Often The 3-hole staple…Gaylon – aka Mr Technology – has discovered way to combine AI videos from different apps into one video, enabling wonders not known in previous campaigns…While no one projecting winners yet, race appears to be all but over now.

Editor’s Note: Gaylon is the Libertarian Party’s nominee for the US House from Colorado’s 2nd District. Click here – now – to contribute to the campaign.

4. World At War Iran war begins again for three-dozenth time while genocide in Gaza has now accounted for 73,000 deaths…Few on planet outside of Gazans and Iranians protesting this, though, as appeasement of those responsible continues.

Writing worth reading. Usually.

The Diary of a Nobody – Sparrow and Robert discuss the latter’s diet. Today’s Diary.

The wife’s diet, by the by,  doesn’t appear to be all that taxing, because Robert reported she had some fried chicken and macaroni and cheese waiting for him, which is hardly out of the Nutrition Handbook…

Extra, extra, read all about it.

In 1862 – The Medal of Honor for US Army soldiers is signed into law by President Abraham Lincoln, seven months after similar medals were authorized for US Navy sailors. The first medals were awarded to six soldiers in March 1863, and the first Navy Medals of Honor were awarded in April 1863. To date, 3,552 Medals of Honor have been awarded to 3,533 people, including five who received both the Army and Navy medals for the same action, and 14 who received medals for separate actions. It remains the oldest continuously awarded combat decoration in the US military.

In 1964 – Mickey Wright wins the US Women’s Opens, defeating Ruth Jensen in an 18-hole playoff by two strokes at the San Diego Country Club. It was the record-tying fourth and final US Open win for Wright and her twelfth of 13 major titles, and was the highest major finish for Jensen. Wright tied the record established by Betsy Rawls between 1951 and 1960, and the record still stands. Four women have won three US Opens, none since Annika Sorenstam of Sweden won her third in 2006.

In 1980 – The SOS Band is at #1 on Billboard’s soul chart – then known as the Hot Soul Singles Chart – for the third of five consecutive weeks with Take Your Time (Do It Right) Pt.1. It was the first chart single for the group, their first of 15 Top 40 and six Top 10 soul hits, and remains their only #1. The song also went #53 pop in Great Britain, peaked at #1 on Billboard’s Disco chart, and at #3 on the Hot 100.

Some Philosophy Crap
The wisdom of the ages. Whatever.

The large masses in politics act pretty much as they do in religion. Every doctrine…is a matter of faith…on account of their trust in the apostle.
