The Diary of a Nobody: Sparrow helps maneuver a Greyhound bus into a parking spot and has the latest on the hotel’s coffee pots, and it’s Sunday Night Spaghetti at The Shire. Today’s Diary.

I think the left coffee pot getting emptied before the right one Saturday morning was an aberration…As usual, the right one was emptied first this morning and in a burst of inspiration seldom seen, at least from me, I did two things: one, I transferred the remaining coffee in the right pot to the left pot and then moved the pot on the left to the space on the right!!!…I am not making that up…I figured if I left it there it wouldn’t get used at all and I suspect this policy – which started out as whim – might become permanent…I might even put it on the night audit checklist.

In 1789 – The United States Congress meets for the first time, at Federal Hall in New York City. 14 representatives from five states and eight senators from five states assembled, but since neither chamber had enough for a quorum, no business was transacted. Both would achieve a quorum in April and would pass their first bill on May 5 when the Senate passed a measure concerning the administration of oaths of office the House had passed earlier.

In 1930 – Emma Fahning becomes the first woman to bowl a perfect 300 game in sanctioned competition. Competing for the Germain Cleaning Team at a tournament in Buffalo, Fahning was reportedly unimpressed by her feat because she was rather new to the game. Though changes in bowling balls and lanes have made 300 games more common, at the time it was a rather rare achievement.

In 1967 – The Rolling Stones are at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with Ruby Tuesday. The song would spend one week at the top, the fourth of eight #1 songs for the Rolling Stones. Ruby Tuesday was originally released as the B side to Let’s Spend the Night Together, then a rather controversial song that only peaked at #55 in the US.
