The Sunday Bottom 5
The very best of the very worst of the week that was.

1. Joe Biden Few nations have been as poorly governed as America is right now and you are nowhere to be found…A charismatic, visionary candidate would have America already counting the days until his inauguration and you’re laying low despite fact modern technology makes access to millions of people instantaneous.

2. 2020 ElectionSunday Bottom 5 pollsters remain “pretty sure” Nov 3 election will go off as planned, but let’s keep our eyes and ears open…President Trump is not evil – he’s merely selfish, ignorant and incompetent – but others could seize on current circumstances to advise him to declare martial law, something that usually only happens in other countries, but is now – almost incredibly – eligible to happen hear.

3. Washington Former RedskinsNFL team announces its changing nickname that probably should not have been adopted in the first place not because team has conscience but for the only reason that matters: it was starting to hit them in the wallet…NFL-themed names being considered as replacements include: Concussions, False Starts and Non-Guaranteed Contracts.

4. Federal Executions First three federal executions since 2003 carried out this week…Strong death penalty deterrent factor shown by fact murder rate actually down a bit the past 17 years…This nation has executed innocent people, with Sunday Bottom 5 pollster still “pretty sure” death penalty should be abolished for this reason alone.

5. President Trump Fact Check The 5-hole staple, click here for the latest lies from our president.

The Diary of a Nobody: Sparrow frets about only having four hours to get ready for work. Today’s Diary.

Proof that yours truly will whine about absolutely anything can be found in the fact that I am whining about today’s sleep session…Not about the 50-hour weeks – of course not, that’s what we live, er, sleep, for, but regular readers of this crap will recall that from time to time I only get four hours or so on Saturdays and while I whine about that, too, that is extra time for project work and reading and whatnot…When you wake up at 1800 sometimes you think you are rushing morning routine when you only have four hours to get out the door.

Backstairs at the Monte Carlo: MCSD is getting some new uniforms.

After three months of consideration, with input from not only Randy Morton, the boss here at Monte Carlo, but also the chairman of MGMMirage Resorts and maybe even Wayne Newton himself, it has been decided our new uniforms will be white, button-up shirts with black slacks.

This will be a change from our current uniform of white, button-up shirts and black slacks.

History’s long march to today.

In 1843 – The SS Great Britain is launched, the first ocean liner with an iron hull and screw propulsion. A passenger ship, the Great Britain could carry 360 passengers and a crew of 120 and she was converted to an all-sail vessel 1881. She was actually scuttled and sunk off the Falkland Islands in 1937 and was raised, repaired and towed back to Britain in 1970 and is now a museum ship in Bristol Harbor.

In 1903 – Maurice Garin of France wins the first Tour de France bicycle race, winning the final stage in Paris. Garin won the first of the six stages in addition to the last two and led the whole way, winning by 2 hours and 59 minutes over Lucien Pothier, also of France. The race had started on July 1 in Paris and remains Garin’s only Tour de France title. He would win the race the following year, but he and three others were disqualified four months after the 1904 race for reasons that were never made public and the official Tour records were lost during World War II.

In 1980-  Billy Joel is at #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 for the first of two consecutive weeks with It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me. The song spent 19 weeks in the Top 40, including eleven weeks in the Top 10. It also went to #1 in Canada, peaked at #14 in Great Britain and was Billboard’s ninth biggest song of the year. The song was Joel’s eleventh of 31 Top 40 hits and his first of three #1 songs.
