The Diary of a Nobody/April 19

It’s Sparrow, an average man passing an average life…

Home Sweet Home
Boy, it was good to get home this morning…We were out of the big city by 0530 and home a bit after 0900, which is pretty good time…Unlike the weather heading out and in the big city – where we fought the snow we missed this winter – it was a gorgeous early-spring morning (re: still cool) and there were good roads the whole way.

Bandit was in the window when we turned onto Maple Street, something he’s been doing recently…Or maybe he’s been doing it for a couple of years, and we just started noticing recently…(This could be it, because we first noticed him in the window a few weeks ago…He is usually there – the time change threw him for a few days – and it’s cute to watch him hop down from the windowsill.)…Of course, he was at the kitchen door waiting for me, and he appears to miss me more than the cat did, and he demanded extra cuddles this morning.

Sparrow For Congress…Vote Early, Vote Often
We were busy on campaign stuff before heading home this morning…Saturday, after securing the 2nd Congressional District nomination, we made a video, a pretty spur-of-the-moment one that we pulled off in only two takes, not too bad for ol’ Sparrow…We encouraged people who thought our country was doing OK to go and watch another candidate’s video, and it didn’t really matter whose because neither major party candidate was going to change a thing…For those who weren’t happy, welcome aboard, and let’s get to work…We even used the phrase “a second American Revolution”, which we’ve had in mind for a while, and – in the spirit of America’s 250th birthday – we even threw in “we the people” in there somewhere.

We immediately posted it to the Sparrow For Congress Faceplant page – and pinned it to the top – and scheduled it once a day for two or three days…We also wrote something for the campaign’s website, and invited our Faceplant friends to like the Sparrow For Congress page.

The Faceplant page is starting to catch on…The new video had 500 views by the time we got home, and a couple of dozen friends liked our page…(Tho Elizabeth isn’t one of them, yet.)…As usual for Faceplant, the reactions are positive, but virtually all the comments are from far-right knuckledraggers…We only responded to one of these: a wise-ass who wondered where our funding was coming from…We replied “from you” and included a link to our contribution page.

Back At It
The gym was doing OK business for a Sunday evening, but Room 2 was free for forms, and we got our first weight session in since before the trip…Everything felt good, tho we did make one modification to our squats.

Squats are our tenth and final form…We squat, then rise, and then raise alternating knees…When we bought our staff we started doing them cradling the staff for balance, but today we felt we really weren’t working all that hard…So for the third set we got the bright idea of getting one of those padded, weighted bars from the gear room…Good call…It’s not as long as our staff, but it weighs twelve pounds or so, and whoa Nelly, 60 seconds of squats took some work, and we will be sure to incorporate them for all three sets tomorrow.

Sparrow’s Sleep Log:
1000 Sunday until 1600 Sunday…6.0 hours for the day, a ho-hum start to the sleep week.

We were surprised, frankly…We didn’t sleep particularly long or particularly well at the hotel Saturday nite, and we were so confident of a long rest we set the alarm so as not to be late for the hotel…But even a patented Sparrow Roll Over (SRO) didn’t yield any more sleep this time around.

The Diary of a Nobody is a novel. All elements are either products of the author’s imagination or are used fictitiously. Anything else is a coincidence.

The Diary of a Nobody was inspired by the 19th-century British novel of the same name.
