The Diary of a Nobody/January 30

Meet Sparrow, an average man passing an average life…

Wednesday, January 29
I spent no small amount of time at the hotel this morning farting around with a tech at the webhost that hosts the Sparrow For Congress site…I couldn’t post anything…I kept getting a 403 Error page…So I online chatted with the bloke manning the chat desk and he didn’t know what the hell was going on, so he authorized a Level 1 support ticket…The Level 1 dude knew what the deal was, tho, and had it fixed soon enuff…He gave a detailed explanation about what the problem had been and, roughly translated, it said *&%##^*)*^^…I asked him if he could put that in Sparrow terms and he tried, but I didn’t understand the layman’s version, either, and concluded I was an idiot.

I had done another Sparrow for US Senate video Tuesday, on the president’s impeachment trial…I babbled about how the Senate really isn’t conducting a trial because a trial is an examination of evidence and not just statements and that they are merely conducting hearing…I added we get the government we put up with and finished with a flourish, inviting everyone to meet me at the ballot box on November 3 to make a difference.

Studio 2B has undergone a slight remodeling…Really bored, really long time readers of this crap will recall past campaign videos were made by Velcroing my iPhone to the computer monitor…Recall I also came across an online teleprompter which prevented ol’ Sparrow from having to memorize everything and it worked pretty well…The new iPhone is bigger than the old one, tho, and I probably could have Velcroed that, too, but something told me there might be something better out there, so I got a tripod…This, tho, didn’t really work too well with the computer monitor where it was, because the phone was a bit higher than the monitor…After some thought, I put a stack of books on top of the book already serving as monitor stand and BOOM perfection, total and utter perfection…I put the phone right in the center of the monitor and the teleprompter has a narrow option that allows me to look right at the prompter and the camera at the same time, so there’s no glancing away…Lighting isn’t great, and I have a face made for radio, but you work with what you got.

Slow at the Veterans Service Office today…I did have a message from Mr K…Recall he had come by last week because he wanted to appeal the VA’s decision on his PTSD disability claim…I returned his call and he said he had talked to a VA patient advocate since he’d stopped by, a good call since they know way more than me…He was told the VA has since stopped bickering about what actions may or may not have cause PTSD and is now presuming they had happened and he had an appointment with a counselor next month…His instructions were to cease all actions on his behalf and await further instructions, instructions you might expect from a former Army officer.

The Wife is still in Kansas because my beloved sister-in-law is having good days and bad days…She was moved from a hospital to essentially a rest home, but she started ralphing a lot and then her surgery wounds got infected and she is back in the hospital…The Wife has been thoughtful enuff to keep me posted with pics throughout the ordeal tho I would be OK without them.

The big news at the retailer is our old friend Moussa finally got his US citizenship…Recall when I worked there he’d pester me from time to time to quiz him with his citizenship flashcards and soon he was throwing around terms like ‘separation of powers’ and ‘checks and balances’…Anyway, I was farting around the retailer this afternoon and saw Moussa and he shared the happy news…He even had pics and video coverage to show me.

The trash made it to the street in time, but I don’t know why I am bothering, there was one sack in the can…One person, of course, simply does not generate as much as trash as two people and I am simply not producing that much trash…Or maybe I am, but with The Wife gone it’s not making its way to a trash can.

I am coming down with something…I’m not completely sickies yet, but I could feel a scratchy throat coming on at the hotel.

Sparrow’s Sleep Log: Per protocol, there was no sleep to report today.

The Diary of a Nobody is a novel. All elements are either products of the author’s imagination or are used fictitiously. Anything else is a coincidence.

It was inspired by the 19th-century British novel of the same name.
