It’s Sparrow, an average man passing an average life…
Saturday, January 21 The big news is ol’ Sparrow got a raise at the hotel…A nice one, too, more than 25% and a bit more than we were going get around to asking for…We discovered it when, after signing up for the new company’s online payroll system, we reviewed our first paycheck with them…We were grateful, more because it absolves us from having to ask for one – something we’re not very good at – than for the money itself tho we’re grateful for that, too, because as our weekly excursions to the retailer have shown, things are getting more expensive.
The big news is the pinky ring we bought in November while visiting Uncle Rudy and Aunt Susie is in the repair shop…

As we noted yesterday, the only obstacle between me and a new snow blower looked me in the mirror this morning…

…there were a lot of people there…and we spent the time standing against a wall because large parties with people having a good time annoy us, and we left well before the raffle for fabulous prizes was held.

The Daily Dose/January 18, 2022 By Gaylon Kent – America’s Funniest Guy™
The Daily Dose will return.
Today At The Site Writing worth reading. Usually.
The Diary of a Nobody – Sparrow gets the cat some new canned yummies. Today’s Diary.
…we opened the tuna for her when we got home and the cat didn’t even blink, attacking it like an old favorite…And the label wasn’t kidding about it being creamy, either: it came in a white sauce and the whole thing resembled that stuff-on-a-shingle crap we’d get in the Navy…Actually, it’s fun to mock stuff-on-a-shingle, but done well it was actually really good, and the cat’s creamy tuna looked good enuff to put on a cracker.
The Bottom Ten/Best of 2022 – Just when you thought you’ve read the last of The Bottom Ten for the season, it’s the more-or-less special Best Of 2022 edition.
Cheapskates note, this one is on the house.
The Bottom Ten Best of 2022 Medal Stand: 1. AFC South champion Jaguars ranked solely as humanitarian gesture so owner Genghis Khan – no stranger to B-10 glory – doesn’t behead entire coaching staff for disobeying team-issued fatwa not to make playoffs.
2. This week’s game against Martin Luther to be televised by the Reformation Network and will feature pregame show hosted by The Lutheran Hour, with special halftime communion ceremony, with Cliff Bars, Powerade representing the body and blood of Christ.
3. Midshipmen – wearing uniforms honoring astronauts with prior naval service – hindered by pregame NASA directive requiring all audibles to be end in “over” and acknowledged with “roger”…

The Bottom Ten/The Best of 2022 By Gaylon Kent – America’s Funniest Guy™
The work is over, and vacation for your intrepid Bottom Ten pollsters can now begin. After 20 weeks, a total of 20 NFL surveys and 16 college surveys, it is time to separate the wheat from the chaff – or whatever it is they do in the Heartland – and produce the funniest Bottom Ten lines of the year. There are 40 of them, more or less, with your Bottom Ten pollsters “pretty sure” they represent the very best of the past four-and-a-half months.
Thank you for reading. As we noted last week, if you enjoy reading this half as much as we enjoy producing it, you enjoy it an awful lot. We’ll see you in 209 days when we all gather for the 2023 Bottom Ten Preseason Q&A.
