The Daily Dose/February 27, 2022
By Gaylon Kent – America’s Funniest Guy™

The Sunday Bottom 5
A ranking of some things.

1. Russia Invasion Of Ukraine SB5 pollsters “pretty sure” Putin’s line about “maintain(ing) peace” in already peaceful country funniest line by invading leader since Hitler wondered how many Poles it would take to work action on Mauser Karabiner rifle in 1939.

2. USA! USA! Americans everywhere admiring Russian invasion of Ukraine, noting striking parallels with 2003 US invasion of Iraq, another invasion of sovereign country that did not present direct threat to invading nation’s sovereignty.

3. Donald Trump The 3-hole staple remains a lying sexual predator who believes that 1) the moon is part of Mars and that 2) the Revolution was won by Continental Army securing British airports, ignorance almost beyond comprehension in anyone older than five…SB5 pollsters still curious as to which of these elements continues to impress adherents and secure their support.

4. Ketanji Brown Jackson– Current federal judge eminently qualified for Supreme Court, but because President Biden had already announced he was hell-bent on nominating Black chick for position, she will probably go down as merely another token appointment…Everyone deserves better than that.

5. RussiaThere is no legal, moral, or historical reason for invading Ukraine, of course, but war has been mankind’s calling card since time immemorial and Russian/Soviet leaders have been getting antsy for expansion since Grand Duchy of Moscow in 16th century…SB5 pollsters “strongly suspect” that while sanctioning already rich men probably won’t do much, pesky Ukranians currently putting up strong fight could muck Russian expansion matters up.

History’s long march.

In 1864 – The first Union army prisoners begin to arrive at the Andersonville prisoner of war camp in Georgia. The prison, formally known as Camp Sumter, remains notorious for its violent, unsanitary conditions that saw over 13,000 deaths, mainly from dysentery, diarrhea, and scurvy. Following liberation the following May, prison commander Captain Henry Wirz was tried as a war criminal and was executed in November.

In 1955 – The Boston Celtics and the Milwaukee Hawks establish a new NBA record for the fewest points in a game in the shot clock era in a 62-57 Celtics win in Providence, Rhode Island. It was the first season for the 24-second clock, which had been devised by the owner and general manager of the Syracuse Nationals – now the Philadelphia 76ers – as a way to increase both scoring and fan interest. The 119 total points remain an NBA record for the fewest points in the shot clock era.

In 1999 – Monica is at #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 for the third of four consecutive weeks with Angel of Mine, her seventh consecutive Top 10 hit and third consecutive, and final, #1 song. The song also went #55 pop and #10 soul in Great Britain, peaked at #2 on Billboard’s soul chart, and was Billboard’s third-biggest song of the year. In 1997 a version by Eternal peaked at #4 in Great Britain. Monica Denise Arnold was born in 1980 in Georgia.
