The Sunday Bottom 5
A ranking of some things.

1. Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea You know, Sunday Bottom 5 pollsters have some street cred here and know that when you go underwater in a ship you risk not surfacing. Still tho, no one concerned with this did their due diligence, as vessel should’ve been taken out of service ages ago…Five needless deaths, as lawyers in a variety of jurisdictions wringing hands over imminent lawsuits.

2. Houston Astros at Los Angeles Dodgers Story out of LA is not how umpire nailed balk call that let in go-ahead run in 8th inning, but how petulant pitcher threw tantrum and got ejected, another sign that makes Sunday Bottom 5 pollsters “pretty sure” America has lost all respect for authority…Oh, and a balk does not have to be intentional…It is a balk whether you meant to or not.

3. Mass Shootings The 3-hole staple…15 mass shootings – defined here as shootings with at least four wounded and/or killed – a bit off last week’s pace, but twelve (12) dead, 84 (84) injured still solid figure…Sunday Bottom 5 pollsters “strangely suspect” 100 years from now all new people will look back and wonder why we did nothing about this.

4. Paris 2024 Parisians going for gold in one of most competitive of Olympic sports, bribery and scandal by organizing committee, as French prosecutors looking into malfeasance concerning signing of public contracts by Paris 2024 organizers…It’s actually second scandal by Paris, as investigation opened in 2017 right after they were awarded Olympics.

5. Fake News Click here to read what the wizards amongst us were actually believing this week…Used to fill space when Sunday Bottom 5 pollsters unwilling or unable to find legitimate #5 entry…Courtesy of AP.

The Diary of a Nobody – Sparrow has a good week in the sack. Today’s Diary.

10.5 hours for the day and 50.5 hours for the week, not quite up to the standard of the past couple of weeks, but nothing to sneeze at, either…We were asleep almost immediately, too, thanks to a shot of Zzz-Sleep…

Extra, extra, read all about it.

In 1876 – Plains Indian tribes – including the Lakota and Dakota tribes – led by Sitting Bull and Crazy Hore and US Army troops under Lt Colonel George Custer fight at the Battle of Little Big Horn in what is now southern Montana. Custer died later in the day and the battle would result in a resounding victory for the Indians, though the Great Sioux War would later result in a US victory.

In 1961 – The Baltimore Orioles and the Los Angeles Angels establish a new major league record for most pitchers used in a game in a 9-8, 14-inning Orioles victory. The teams combined to use 16 pitchers – eight by each team – and research into whose record they broke was inconclusive. The mark has been topped several times since and is now 25, by Colorado and San Francisco in a 2019, 16-inning game and the nine-inning record is 18, done three times.

In 1977 – Marvin Gaye is at #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 for the only week with Got To Give It Up (Part 1). The song also peaked at #7 in Great Britain and at #1 on Billboard’s soul and disco charts. It was the 17th of 18 Top 10 pop hits for Gaye and his third and final #1 and was his 13th of 14 soul #1s. Gaye was shot to death by his father at the family home in Los Angeles in 1984.

Knowledge is power.
